Making a Difference

The Food Bank is open at St Matthew’s Church on Tuesday & Thursday from 04.00pm to 06.00pm

St Matthews Foodbank – part of  the Trussel Trust

St Matthews Foodbank has been helping families in need for over 6 years and we have 8 teams and we open every Tuesday and Thursday in the church hall between 4 and 6 pm.

Father Martin and the Parishioners of St Matthews have been very generous over this period and we have been joined by Our Lady of Mount Carmel, St Kentigerns and Kay Park church.   St Joseph’s Academy and Grange Academy have also been very supportive.

The East Ayrshire Foodbank last year supplied, with the help of public donations over 5000 food parcels. We carefully put together a balanced diet with cereals, pastas, soups, tins of meat,  tuna, sauces, rice, custard, fruits, toiletries etc

People are referred to the Foodbank by Health Care professionals and  Care Agencies. The Council for Voluntary organisations underpins all activities including all movement and delivery of food crates.

We thank everyone for their support and trust it will continue. It would be nice to think that we might not be required to keep helping but I fear our services with your help will continue to make a difference to many families and individuals who are in need in our area. If you feel you could help out either with donations or by being a volunteer on Tuesday and Thursday between 4pm and 6pm, please respond through Father Martin who will pass on details.

Please help increase food stocks.  There is a box at the back of the Church for all donations of nonperishable food.
